COVID-19 Phase 1 Response
At Southport, we’re doing our part to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 by continuing to keep our office and the Central Plains RecPlex closed to the public until further notice. As an essential service to the tenants at Southport, regular day-to-day operation continues at the Southport Office and all customer inquiries can be made by phone or email.
Recently, the province unveiled the phases in which Manitoba will begin to restore safe services. Under ‘Phase One’ which comes into action May 4, outdoor recreation facilities and golf courses can reopen. With this, the Southport Golf Club, playground, tennis courts, ball diamonds, and soccer fields will be available for public use under the following parameters.
Playground, Tennis Courts, Soccer Fields, Ball Diamonds:
Patrons must maintain a distance of at least 2 meters, except for brief exchanges.
Southport Golf Club (upon opening):
Patrons must maintain a distance of at least 2 meters, except for brief exchanges.
Clubhouse occupancy will be limited to four patrons at one time.
All public use items including the outdoor washrooms and ball-washing stations will be unavailable for use.
Staff will be given information on physical distancing and will stay home when ill.
Physical distancing signage will be posted externally and internally throughout the golf course and the clubhouse.
Customers will not be allowed entry if they are ill with COVID-19 symptoms.
The clubhouse will have one single point of entry through the north entrance and customers will be asked to exit only through the south door.
Hand sanitizer will be available at all entrances and exits for public and staff use.
Washrooms will have frequent sanitization and a regime for business sanitization will be in place.
A maximum of four golfers per group is allowed and only one person per golf cart, or two people from the same household.
Pins on greens must remain in the hole at all times during play.
Cashless or no-contact payment will be used to the greatest extent possible.
